CoSW is an ensemble of griots whose song-craft emphasizes storytelling in retro-future parables, experimenting in pop & soul through a rock-operatic lens. Their analog-digital hybrid sound takes audiences on cosmic trips through time and space using elements of noise, punk, jazz, rock, R&B, and musical theater. They have worked with the Rialto since 2016 where they produced their first live album (“Live at the Rialto” 2017), second LP (“The Black Rose” 2022), and their single “Jump Up” (2023).

Creating Lewis
Creating Lewis blends avant-pop, neo-soul, and musical theatre to investigate collective care, systems of power, authentic wholeness, and radical love. The name “Lewis” has roots meaning “famous warrior.” Creating Lewis explores how we embody a warrior during these times. In what ways do we show up with courage, do we stay present in the struggle for wholeness, healing, repair, life and freedom? This project steps into liminal space and core questioning with harmony, power, and heart.

CoSW Church of Starry Wisdom

Church of Starry Wisdom

retro-futuristic goth-classic rock band based in Akron, Ohio, formed in 2016.

CoSW is an ensemble of musical griots whose song-craft emphasizes storytelling in modern parables. Their bandmembers' diverse backgrounds shape their eclectic music, conducting experiments in pop & soul through a rock-operatic lens. They sing songs of life, death, sex, murder, love, hate, and the Chaos that crawls between. Through its analog-digital hybrid sound vibrations, the band takes the listener on a cosmic trip through time and space using elements of noise, punk, jazz, rock, R&B, and musical theater. When it can, CoSW integrates video projection with their live performances; this curated imagery interacts with their songs’ stories and the visceral experiences of those moods. Over the years CoSW has enthusiastically collaborated with other performing and visual artists of their community (i.e. live painting, fire-spinning, dancing, etc.) to build unforgettable live experiences for audiences. They are inspired by the fire of co-conspired improvisation. A show with Church of Starry Wisdom is never just a band playing music; they always deliver a theatrical ceremony.

“ ...Imagine a mutant lab experiment combining the DNA of Prince and David Bowie singing lead vocals for the Sisters of Mercy. This is some of the best goth-rock I've heard live in at least 10 years.”

— Vertigo Xi'an Xavier

“...I feel like I’m hearing Bowie’s hidden f@#king songs right now…”

— Jeri Sapronetti (Time Cat, Big Pop)

“It’s a mixture of David Bowie and funk in the best way possible.”

— Ryan Colin McGrew (Audio Engineer)

“Great emotional wide-scale songwriting; and fearless, passionate execution in live performance... This is a band that you'll remember; for all the right reasons.”

— Dave Snodgrass (Rick Ray Band)

(LEFT to RIGHT) Natalie Grace Martin, Kurt Brown, Jaiie Dayo-Aliya, Vince Tyree, Amy Spencer
